It's been three weeks, and I still have no traces of even a job opportunity. Yes, I have my weekend job, that's 8 hrs total per week. But that's not enough to cover private school tuition. I was really frustrated about it, but a wonderful friend of mine reminded me that I don't exist in the world in order to find a summer job, so I shouldn't get so bent-out-of-shape. So. I'm still looking. In the form of opening the yellow pages and calling through every business that might have an opening for me. But lucky me, I still get to sleep in!
I went to the northwesternmost corner of Washington last weekend with Jon's family. Hooah, Lynden! Jon was in a good friend's wedding on Saturday and his brother's fiance had her bridal shower on Sunday afternoon, so I went to both. It was kind of a whirlwind trip though, since we left Corvallis at noon on Friday and returned to Corvallis at 11 on Sunday. Lots of driving. But it was fun to see Jon's grandparents and his hometown for a second time. Of course, it was also nice to see him in a tux. But I think for when our wedding rolls around after an eon and a half, tux companies will have invented more flattering fits for my uber-tall, skinny boyfriend. Anna's bridal shower went well. I didn't know many people, but it was nice to meet a few super-importants to the Brim family.. the kind of people I'll get to know more in the future. Beckii and Katie got the superfun job of taking pictures, and I thought for a moment I'd have the superfun job of scribe, but Anna's REAL sister-in-law came and took my lovely notebook and insisted on doing it instead. Alas. Someday, she'll be sorry. So I oohed and ahhed over plates and towels and ate cake. That's right, I stuck it to her good. Oh boy. There's already animosity between me and the in-law-in-laws. What is that called, your in-laws once removed? And it's not even in-law yet. Oh, boy indeed.
I've been helping Jon's mom in her flower beds. Weeding and such. It's a nice way to get a tan and also feel like I'm actually getting things done. But I think my mom's a little jealous, so I'll go out and help her in her garden today a while. Sorry mom, you're not paying me, and she is. I'm just like a corporate snob. But with weeds instead. I'm starting small.
I left the Dordt network on Facebook. It felt good. I don't need to know the people I'm not already friends with, because I will probably never need to.
I lost my blogging fire. I don't have anything else to write about. I think it's time to go upstairs and get dressed and start my day. I have another 100 businesses to call. I'm to the Ns. Nanny services here I come!

Aaah!! You sound a little bit like me, except I haven't hit the yellow pages yet. And I do have half a job. I might end up weeding at an organic vegetable farm the rest of the summer, because the hotel doesn't want summer work.
